The catterpillar is one of God's most intriguing insects. This is a well written poem with very good imagery and descriptive scheme. Good luck in your contest.

This is such a sweet, poetic tribute to those little guys, and I personally LOVED these as a child. I remember them being so prevalent they would fall from trees onto our hair, arms, etc. and we'd be covered in 'wooly bears' and fuzzy guys. I loved them, and this took me back. There's also the lesson in being content in every stage of life. Thanks--good job!

I can hardly begin to say how much I admire the way you combine words and rhyme to describe this lovely creature before it undergoes metamorphosis. I've discerned several examples of alliteration by speaking it aloud, and they add to your music, Brooke. Peter

I agree with you. Caterpillars are sort of doomed from the start. Once they attain their new form, they get to fly around and be beautiful, but they don't have long to live. The first stage of their life is probably much more comfortable and enjoyable!

One of my favourite children's books when I was young featured a caterpillar, and the pages were full of various fruits and leaves through which he'd eaten. Pages with holes was a very cool feature when I was that age :-)

The only difference here was that I was the mom reading The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle to my children, not the child being read to - read it hundreds of times! :-D Oh, you must be so young! LOL Thanks so much, Brooke

Thirty two years young, to be exact. The book is truly a classic!

I tend to be a tump-te-tump churner of doggerel, so the meter has me stumble a couple fo times, but this is probably our differenct pronounciations.
A fun poem. I particularly like the holding pattern reference, caterpillars stacked up waiting for the runway to be free. (And I've always thought some of the more exotic caterpillars beautiful too)
Good Luck

A change of pace for you; any reason why you did not use greens for your pupae - background? Anyway, I enjoyed your Caterpillar and they are beautiful in their own right before they become extraordinary.

there is supposed to be a picture there that matches the background and words, and it appears to be not showing, and I don't know why!!! thanks, Brooke

It was a sick caterpillar yellow!

As always another great poem. I truly like catapillars more than butterflies. They are easier to play with, and funner to watch, especially with the little kids. As always, good job.
