This is an excellent chapter, and without any nits that I could find. It does seem irregular for the LAPD to use private eyes, even if they are thoroughly competent, so it's a good thing you raised this issue. About every police department around wanting to get in the action, that is exactly how it would be. Remember the slo-motion chase when they arrested OJ Simpson?

Yes, well, PI's generally aren't welcome when the cops get involved. It's just special circumstances here!

And yes, I remember that clearly. In this instance, we're only 1/3 through the actual book chapter. You know how it is here. The old eyes get blurry!

Again, a very well written suspens filled chapter. The kidnapped victims are rescued, but the kidnappers are still free. Good imagery and descriptive scheme.
