God is such a devoted and caring Father, (which seems a little silly of me to say, seeing He is the epitome of the loving, devoted parent.) how proud He must be of you John, for the humility and generosity of spirit. I wish my dad was still alive today, he was on the beaches of Dunkirk in WW2, my brother in Vietnam, both are departed for heaven's shores. Beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad and brother. You, of all people, can truly understand the debt of gratitude we owe to those particularly of the greatest generation. God bless. John

Wow, I was overwhelmed by your story! What an honor, to help welcome those great guys back from that Honor Flight!
My dad was gone for almost 4 years in WWII, he served as a Chief Petty Officer in the SeaBees, the Navy Construction Battalion, in the Pacific. He saw a lot of action, was wounded twice (He never applied for the purple heart), and his best friend, Perry, was killed alongside him on Guadalcanal, by a Japanese sniper.
I served US Navy, aboard the USS Rochester, heavy cruiser, just before Vietnam jumped off.
Great story!

I think your dad is the personification of the true heroes of WWII. Thank you for sharing and I appreciate your review, especially your generous sixth star.
