Excellent, Grayness. This free verse covers the fire of youth, the chills of old age - and by extenuation, the coldness of the grave - which then gives way to eternal warmth. It is reminiscent of St. Faustina Kowalska's vision that the Lord embraces the newly received soul and calls it to enter into His heart where His love will burn away all one's sins.

Yes, it is more important to live one's life with love of God. For in the end, He is the one who will receive you.
I enjoyed your poem. It says so much about life & how views of death affect all. But there is hope at the end. Good job & thanks for sharing. Jan

Your poem is a joy to read, reflecting the meaning of faith. Each day I pray giving gratitude to The Lord for all the blessings, He has brought into my life. I also feel the passing of youth into old age, and the importance of faith in our golden years.

I so agree. With faith you can truly live and with His love you can fully be loved. This was a great poem and deserves six star rating but I'm all out of those this week. Thank you for sharing and best wishes, N.B

This was a fascinating read. It is the sort of message that offers comfort to older people who are getting nearer to death.
Instead of dwelling on what the past was like, it is a comfort to look forward to eternal love and peace
love and hugs

A very humbling poem of devotion and deep trust in the power of God's love.
How easy it sometimes is to forget that we need never fear, for God is always with us.
Thank you for the clear reminder of this.

My favorite part of the poem:
the cold chills of life's
Newly realized dimensions,
Sends the aging heart
To the lands of darkness,
Fear, and uncertainty...
Thank goodness, I haven't felt that yet, not will I ever.
Like my mother, I think of heaven as my home.
It seems a paradox that people believe in God, yet fear death.
A lovely poem, Vance. We'll meet in the great beyond someday. :-)

OH! Dear Gert (who I love so much)...your words, message, and stars are healing elements in and of themselves! I am fixed upon my faith, not to give up and to remain GRATEFUL every moment for the love of GOD and the gifts HE has already blessed me with! I pray each night for God's help in finding words of encouragement, faith, and promise to share within my writings so that my circumstance may eventually deliver something positive, meaningful, and actionable for others who really need the messages GOD wants them to hear, and might not otherwise reach them. My life has been rich and bountiful and I only wish to team up with GOD in any way possible to show my thanks and genuine GRATITUDE for what wonderful blessings I've had...Like meeting you! Love Vance

Vance, from your thank you note to me.
I can see how you, indeed, are blessed with God's love each day.

Hi Vance;
thank you so much for sharing this piece which reminds us about the love He showers on us every day. We only need to pay attention and bask in its glory.
While the passage of time brings us grey hair and aching bones, His love gets us through.

Thanks so much Patty, for this lovely review and stars! Thank you sincerely for your wonderful review!
I want you to know that I have been suffering with Alzheimer?s for several years now and I recently prayed to God to give me a message I could share with my beloved friends on FS.
This poem was given to me virtually immediately as I laid in bed, rose quickly and typed it into my computer! It was a gift from GOD and intended to help you, so please give your own private thanks in prayer. Blessings and love with sincere gratitude to you! Vance
