I love cats, too, and I have a houseful. Like you, I could go on and go about how smart they are. I get tired of people saying they're aloof. I sometimes wish mine were for a few minutes. Whenever I'm still for a second, I'm covered up in cats.

I really enjoyed this story. It read very well and was interesting.

Good luck in the contest. 8-)

I'm one of those 11.5% persons and so is my husband. A smooth move from the specific to the general. Great laugh lines:
my husband went to the doctor for stomach trouble and told the physician to check for hairballs.

Cats were hunted, tortured, and sacrificed, but in the end, they got a form of revenge.

Great stories of cats saving human lives. I've heard too that can see people who passed over. I know my furry feline once stared over my head for several minutes. Perhaps she saw my mother's spirit behind me.

A great post and best of luck in the contest.

Thanks for reading and the six stars. It's highly possible your cat saw your mother's spirit. The can sense much more than we can. Glad to hear from another one of the 11.5% LOL

My husband and I are cat people, and I agree with everything you have written. We had 22 at one time, and everyone of them had a personality of their own. My all time favourite, Milly, died just three weeks ago and has left a huge whole in our hearts. She showed us so much love but let us know she was in charge. We loved her and miss her now. Some of the facts you wrote, I can vouch for too, we had one wake us up when a light kept flickering downstairs, it was a faulty one and it was lucky she woke us, it was red hot and would have caught alight. I really enjoyed reading your story, and you can tell them any time you want. I'll always read them. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

Thanks for reading and commenting. Cats are more intelligent than folks give them credit for. As a cat person, I'm sure you already know that. Glad to meet another confirmed cat person.

A very well-written and interesting cat story. We have only one cat for the past thirteen years and she is clearly the Queen of our castle. We are lucky to never have shredded furniture or curtains to replace.

Thanks for reading and commenting. My cats are not too bad about shredding things. Only one give me problems and I have been spraying her with a water gun so I think she will stop clawing furniture soon.

This is a terrific entry into the contest. I have always had both cats and dogs. They are the best and I can't favor one over the other. I like the part about the different sounds and different meanings. That I know is true. And, yes, they are so smart. Animal therapy for the elderly and handicapped works wonders. I would have liked your story to end before the political comments. Otherwise and excellent write. Marilyn

Thank you. I think a cat would be a better president than the ones we usually have. LOL

What a wonderful cat story so interesting yet very informative. I didn't realize cats are so smart, but that explains why they give me those your such an idiot looks, lol. it's a wonderful story, thank you for sharing your love for cat's, and your knowledge with us. Oh, one more thing, I'm sure your furry friends love you and they sit on your lap your, your computer for love, and attention not warmth.

Thank you. I don't know, cats love any warm object. That's why you hear about them getting on warm engines and being killed. They do love me, though. They are just too cool to admit it.

Was surprised you never mentioned their nine life's where did that come from? Me I'm a dog person, showed and bred them strange the way pets act towards their masters. I found this easy to read and understood it, some try to be vets lol. Made a nice break from what's going on here in UK. Know well re pet hair, can't wear black as shows up awful, thank you for this in sight full write.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I should have put the nine lives in there, but I was trying to keep it short as most reviewers dislike long drawn out stories. I love dogs too and have a lovely red heeler. She gets along fine with all the cats and they love her.

Thought you did a good job kept to the subject, I find some go off course. I'm looking into the nine life's thing and why we say a black cat walking in front of you brings bad luck, as soon as I've found out I'll let you know. Have a lovely Sunday.

You're obviously a lover of cats - and I can understand why.
a well-written piece, April - I particularly enjoyed the little
stories of different cats - they all have their own personalities.

In 2012(,) a cat saved its owner's life when the woman had a diabetic seizure.

his cat guardians hissed [at](and) spat viciously at them

president of the United States(,) he could win

Good luck with the contest, my friend.

Margaret
