Good first try, but more like a "statement" than a poem.
Particularly as content (and picture) evoke the vast, boundless, free
realms of the Natural world, the wild horses galloping at the "speed of light",
the wind in their manes, spirited creatures indeed, I would suggest to make poem less "rational", more "mystical" and symbolic of the awesomeness, magic and power of, in this case, horses.
See in book Medicine Cards (Jamie Sams & David Carson) chapter on Horse, you'll love it - Native Indian in symbolism, wisdom and teachings.

It must have been an amazing sight to see a herd of wild horses running across the plan! The Native Americans certainly had more of a spiritual interpretation of the world. Good alliteration in the "saw...symbols...spirit" and "wild...west...world."

Yes, Kerry, Natives saw horses as symbols of the spirit world. You lovely tanka captured the sense of wildness and freedom of these noble animals. You also capture the vastness of the western landscape as horses ran across it.
Thank you for sharing your superb tanka.
