If Cody was going to get a warm butt anyway, why not tell the truth? I think the Sherif knows he was not yelling the truth. Maybe the spanking was for the fighting AND the lying. The lying is worse to me. But, I digress. This does capture how little boys act. Usually, all is forgiven eventually. Thank you for sharing

It is amazing how best friends will scuffle from time to time. I know my best friend Johnny and I would have our monthly tussle, but never stayed mad at each other.
This is a very good rewrite and was enjoyable to read.
