I enjoyed reading your poem. I like that you highlighted the last line in a different color. Great job with the required syllable count. Best of luck.

Thanks, rrabinow. I'm really glad you liked the poem as well as the presentation. It's losing right now, but there's still a little time left. Keep your finger crossed for me!

Man, you had me going for a moment (or two) Since Robin Williams', and Lauren Bacall's announcements, I've been waiting for the 3rd person. That would have been an irony - A comedian, a siren, and a master of macabre all passing into the next world at the same time. There might be a pun in there somewhere. Excellent Senryu, Dean. A perfect venue for those with the skill to twist a line.
Rose.

Thank you, Rose. How in the world did you know that I wrote it? It's for a blind contest, and that contest is going on right as we speak (which I am losing, too, by two votes at last check!). My name isn't appearing anywhere, is it? If so, I am doomed, LOL.

Yeah, I nearly wept when I saw the bogus post on Facebook. So close to Robin Williams death? It just didn't feel right, so I did some checking. Turns out, it was false, thank God!

Thanks for your great review, my friend.:)

I was poking around in your portfolio, Dean (always the snoopy one) I didn't know the post was for a 'blind' contest. All posts are in a writer's portfolio - regardless of what kind of a contest it's entered in.
I've had a few folks read a blind contest entry of mine, and feel so sure it was written by me, that they head to my portfolio to confirm it. Nothing of your name appears on the entry - but being as it was in your portfolio - I was left with no doubt as to who wrote it. :o)

Whew! That's a relief, Rose. I sometimes sign my artwork, so I thought maybe it had appeared there somewhere. I'm relived, and while I'm losing now, it is much better than being disqualified, LOL.

    Thanks for letting me know!

I always appreciate the different approaches taken in these contests. Yours is always so imaginative and presentation is always so perfect. I would have voted for your entry but I wanted to make sure mine got at least one. I think it has something to do with my insecurity. Good luck.

Ha, thank you, Victor. I never vote on my own stuff anymore. In the past when I have, it always brought me bad luck. Call me superstitious, LOL. So, I'm not sure whose I voted for. it may have been yours!

Thanks so much, Brooke, and I nearly cried when I first saw the reports, on his Facebook wall, no less, that he had passed away. And hot on the heels of Robin William's death as well! He is the one of the ones that made me want to do so desperately what I try to do today...write, and inspire (or terrify) people.

I truly do appreciate your kind review.

I saw the death notice. Stephen King would certainly consider this hoax a lot of fun since death is present in almost all his work. Excellent senryu. Best of luck in the contest.

Clever, clever response to the hoax
Great senryu spirit exhibited; a closer look at the human condition; the quirky side.
Like the sardonic rejoinder: Great while it lasted. Usually, you're a long time dead, so I see the point of this - very witty.
I liked the strong ending with the Capitalised name as if on a RIP notice.
Strong contender in this. Good Luck.

Oh... my... God. After the death of one icon (Robin Williams) we have the hoax-ified demise of another of the greats: Stephen King.

And, you were able to press it all into a Senryu!

Yeah, can you believe someone would do that, Jay? I heard King got a huge laugh out of it however. This poem is what I thought he might say in response.

I really appreciate the review, buddy!:)

This Senryu You! writing prompt entry accomplishes the requirements of the contest with a fresh approach. I wonder sometimes if the person is the perpetrator of his/her own hoax. Who knows? This is creative and well constructed. All the best in the contest! :0 GracieAnn

Thank you, GracieAnn, and by all reports I've read, no one knows where the hoax actually originated from. King did say he was so tired of not being able to walk down the street without being recognized. But his mug is probably one of the most distinctively recognizable in America. So, I suppose it isn't beyond the realm of possibility.

Dean, for sure on the face. He looks like an Eskimo mixed with something else! LOL. He does have a face for writing. ;0 GracieAnn

Ha. My life was a hoax.
But sure fun while it lasted.

Or is it:

My life is a hoax.
Is it lasting?

All I know is that when Mozart was my age he was dead for 45 years.

Good Senryu you, by the way
