Luna luminates the sky,
Mariposa flutters by.
No one knows what there might be,
overhead, a mystery --
till they lift their eyes to see.
an impressive ABC poem, Brooke - the skies are mystifying - I often sit in the conservatory and watch - quite fascinating and makes one feel so small.
good luck with the contest.

I like the image of the butterfly flying across the moon. This is a poem that makes the reader feel good and reminds us of the beauty of the moon and her impact on us.

Beautiful verse. True, we can't really know what is above us until we look up. You of course have put that so elegantly. Beautiful rhythm to this piece. Nice job on the ABC and good luck

A sweet poem for the little lad. May the sense of wonder never leave him.
There's a hint of untold magic in this one, Brooke. Your work often tends to remind me of other things. This reminds me of a line from the song "I Hope You Dance", which says 'give the heavens above more than just a passing glance.
And Luna is also a beautiful moth, which ties in with your Mariposa!
Very nice work.

Just what is it that draws us to the skies. Is it only our fascination with mystery; the mystery that we create. As the metaphor is extended, we are reminded that God did make us guardians of his universe! The real mystery of this poem is the reference to the butterfly. I suppose we all make our own, precious connections. Best wishes. -Ekim777

Unlike with the sun, the moon invites us to look up and stare. Late night moon gazing gives a sense of peace and wonder. I like to watch the moon and wonder about the people around our world who maybe doing the exact same thing.
I enjoyed your ABC poem. Good luck in the contest.
