'Tis not the Bard, but pretty good poetry anyway

You avoid rhyme as blank verse requires, but I would label this a free verse poem and not blank verse because you don't have a consistent meter in all your lines
good internal rhyme in sounds profound
Water's symphony - add apostrophe for possessive
good alliteration in rocks and rills
and in warm words
Words' transformation - add apostrophe for plural possessive
poet's bliss - add apostrophe for possessive
a thoughtful look at the creative writing process

Thanks for the wonderful edit Brooke. I made the corrections of punctuation and will work on the meter. :-) Carolyn

Carolyn, I counted the syllables in "Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought," and I keep coming up with twelve syllables. Did you mean to have twelve syllables in that line? The rest have ten syllables.

I enjoyed reading the poem, though. It goes well with the picture.

Thanks April, you counted correctly. I am not sure how I missed that on the first line. I haven't decided what to do, I may call it free verse instead of blank verse. :-) Carolyn

Sitting quietly by the streams as he cascading sound of the tiny waterfalls crackling up the sound of rushing water over the small cliffs of rocks.
The writer or the painter will scribble without waiting for the muse as the muse had been ignited already.
Swiftly an artistic piece is born and the mastery of solitude begets a masterpiece for all to behold.
Beautiful write and such calm and peace that we will all appreciate and the pic is really lovely too.
Cheerio, hugs, bro Ritchie. :))

Thank you Ritchie, I am glad you enjoyed this. You certainly got the 'jist' of what the writer intended. :-) Love, Carolyn

    Hi Carolyn,

Your word 'jist' had given me a name for our Duet Poem but the dictionary said 'Gist' so we can have a title called "Gist and Bliss" - the theme is not specific and of a general nature. And you can start off the Duet Poem and I will play catch up to your stanza. You can change the title if you got a better one, smiles.
    Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))

Hi Carolyn,
This is a well penned poem with strong imagery and direction for the reader. I wanted to be the figure in your artwork - so serene a place to read.
Lovely job on this work.
Thanks for sharing,

Quietly by the stream he sat with random thought
Absorbing sounds profound, and oh so clear

Such a delightful poem to read, very relaxing also with that picture, deep lines of a past and now. Well done. Hugs Terry

I did indeed enjoy this work as it describes so very vividly the serene scene, also providing information about the writer's world as he sits next to the stream.

Thanks for sharing this wonderfully penned blank-verse poem...for me it has brought about a peaceful, easy feeling!

All the best to you with it going forward, and with warmest regards!

Jeffrey

Carolyn I loved your blank verse poem very much. Sometimes when you sit in a quite place and reminisce about your past and your life you don't have to wait for your muse to inspire you. This is great stuff. Good visions emerge from your creation.
Cheers
Sylvia

This is a beautiful poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. This is the reason that I write. I want to reflect on my life, and not lest the experiences that I have go to waste. I do this through fiction, but there is a little bit of me in every character that I write about.
