Good luck in the contest. I imagine you'll do very well with this poem. It is very beautiful. I also love the autumn (fall) and the colours that it brings to nature. I do love your writing. :-)

Oh, what an imaginative way to deal with the prompt. I have read lots of great entries in this one, but there is a certain sameiness to some of them, while yours comes at it from a whole different angle. I specially liked the flock of geese and the pumpkin like a harvest moon. Beautiful imagery. Working "cornucopia" in so smoothly is masterly, and perfect word play on "ever green".
Best wishes, and hope you had a wonderful holiday seeing Sawyer.
Yours

Sally, thanks so very much for your gracious review :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed. I am now home from my trip and missing Sawyer and my daughter already. Brooke :-)

We are so blessed to live where we do, in a land of four seasons, of rich color, of moist refreshment in the air; it is an easy place to love, and an easier life than some, to live. Your poem elicited each of these thoughts.

Ah, what if? A nice walk through scenes of autumn. It is my favorite time of year. Thanks for this sweet flowing tribute to this colorful time of year. Anita

Hi Brooke, Very nicely written poem in abcb rhyming and solid meter (no surprises there lol). Your words paint nice images in the readers mind with subtle well done metaphors. I surely love the autumn around here and could not imagine living somewhere without it. Did you make it home yet? I'm sure you had a blast with Sawyer and his parents. Good luck in the contest.
All the best, Rodger

Hi, Rodger. I made it home last night - nothing like driving from the airport in the dark and rain. LOL I had the best time in the world on my vacation except for the part where I had to go and Sawyer's mom wouldn't let me steal him from her :-) I like your contest entry, too, my friend. Good luck to you, too. Brooke :-)

Ah yes... Nothing can rob us of our dreams and favorite memories. This is so beautifully written and vividly colorful in its descriptions of Fall. You bring to life the scenes we all love and wish we could describe so well. I love your poetry! You always seem to find just the right words. This is excellent.

Such incredible visuals in this glorious poem. This certainly is a winner in my book.
With no stumbling over words the work just flows, and trips lightly off the tongue.
I particularly like the last stanza, since here in Florida, Autumn is not quite a pronounced as up north. I too can still dream about it, and remember.
Good luck in the contest.

I love the art work and to see the color
Of the leaves and their special beauty.
Nature shares her many gifts with us all.
The beauty around is a gift for us all.

Good morning Brooke,
This is both beautiful and haunting
in its vibrant imagery and choice of meter
that appeals to or plays with all of the senses.
Just beautiful.

I will ever admire your sense of rhythm in your poems. You produce so much and so often with perfect syllable count and rhyme. Even when the theme is shallow and nondescript you come up with fine work. This one is unique with the absence of autumn in a sense. I have often wondered about my last breath or scene to be sensed and snuffed out in a flash. I guess I could write a poem and let it live forever in the minds of the few who read it. Probably not worth the thought. I may forget this, but I doubt it.

Thanks Brooke. I have a poem, which I hesitate to put here. I wonder how it would be received? It is about tomorrow never gets here, because today gets in the way. "My everlasting lover is today." I will go to my archives and find it.

I do hope you post it. :-)
