Thank you Janie for your kind comments and review. My mom is always saying "I act just like him." :o) She even once said that "we didn't have to worry as long as Jody was around we'd always have Dad." My family nickname is Jody.

I consider it an honor to be compared to my dad, he was an awesome man and I'm sure you feel that same kind of pride. God bless.

The toughest thing I ever did was bury my mom. Yet somehow I feel closer to her now than when she was with us. I think you can relate - your author notes are revealing. Sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Isaac for your kind comments and review. I am also sorry for the loss of you Mom. I dread that day for me. I am unable to think about it.

This is indeed a wonderful tribute to your dad, I had tears in my eyes by the end. It is strange how we don't always see in us the things that stand out in our parents, until something makes us open our eyes wider. A lovely emotive read :) Tina

Sadly enough, a strong emotion usually is what makes people write, and that is so positive as well as negative. My dad works hard all his life too, so I understand quite well the message that is written here.

Oh, thank you Robyn. I think I must have had a senior moment. LOL I could not think how to spell fifteen. I could not even find it in my Websters. I will correct. I appreciate your comments.

This is a well-written, lovely tribute to your father. I especially like the dscription of how you came to appreciate those hands that toiled for you.

Thank you Janice for reading and commenting on my poem for my Dad. Yes, I loved him very much but in my youth I had sometimes been ashamed of him. Then as I got older and thankfully before he died I realized how special he really was.

fifth teen - fifteen?
The day of his death I will never forget
For the first time I marveled at hands unsoiled
And realized I owed him a big debt
It was for me, those hands had toiled - this verse is lovely extremely moving
for me only shame would flow better I think - otherwise a lovely poem - very emotional very vivid

Oh, thank you so much for your input. I think I must have had a Senior moment. I could not remember how to spell fifteen nor could I find it in the dictionary. I will change immediately. I am glad you liked my poem. I think you are write about "for me only shame." I will probably change it. thanks.
