Thank you for sharing your story about hip replacement. I will be facing knee replacement at some time - I'm putting it off for as long as possible. I don't think I would be able to view the video beforehand either. Your piece here is well written, starting with the pain and decision, through the surgery and post-surgery. It is good to hear yours had a successful outcome.

Yes, we are in awe of the medical profession. Unfortunately we hear too much negative and the good, many times, goes unnoticed and/or untold. My husband had two knee replacement surgeries and both went well. Your story is one of positive enlightenment. Thanks for sharing.

I had the hip surgery for degernative arthritic changes to the hip. The only challenge ahead is getting through airport security. I'm told that I can expect to always gets frisked!

Hi, Jan. I hope that you don't need the hip surgery. My hip situation was a combination of arthritic changes and gait issues following a tear of my knee ligmanet. Physical therapy is no fun! But it's so important, I've found, in recuperating. Good luck with your own situation.

I am an operating room nurse and am amazed daily at the successful surgeries that are pulled off. Incredible things happen in the operating room. You failed to mention though that if the patient does not abide by the doctors rules or take the meds as recommended that much different outcomes do happen. I am pleased that your outcome was successful.

Thanks so much, HP. I have found that many folks have noted my appreciation for the medical profession and my surgeon. But, I do feel that the healing prayers offered before, during and after my surgery also made a big difference.
