Sad poem about the life of a soldier and especially the ones who've been forgotten. One of the saddest facts about war is the families left torn to pieces, sometimes without visible proofs of what happened to their loved ones. Thank you. Best Blessings! Marjie

Sad poem, deepwater. You really conjured up the mood with your words. Kind of scared, confused, heavy weight in your lines. Probably how most soldiers feel. Good Job.

My dad was a WW-II vet, so your poem was very heart felt to me... What a Beautiful and lovely way to show the fear and adrenaline our soldiers felt facing the enemy. Thanks for such an enjoyable poem...

:)

what a wonderful poem. You told your story of horror in very few words but you certainly brought vivid pictures to my minds eye. I think you paid a wonderful tribute to the soldiers of WWI. Excellent job.

What a vivid description of what must have been a truely horrible experience. It's amazing that dispute terrible odds those men had the courage to charge the enemies line. Excellent ryhme that brings that day so vividly to life. Great poem.

A touching tribute my friend, it also shows that no matter the atrocities of some war, regardless of its occurence, the fallen brave will always be remembered.

Hi Deepwater,
Yes the first world war was an eye opener for modern warfare, thousands of lives were lost in merely a few hours.
So many brave torn apart from such few machine guns and shelling.
Least we forget.
Kind regards

Wow. There is a really good rhythm and pace to this poem which gives an even stronger feeling of experiencing what this soldier is going through, and yet the way you've described certain moments like other surrounding soldiers 'friends' falling also makes me imagine them happening in slow motion, making them even more poignant. i like also how the rhyming doesn't seem to be forced, it flows really well and you really feel for the men. Great read!
