Thank you for a poem commemorating Pearl Harbor Day. I thought about my grandfather who served in the South Pacific during World War II. Pearl Harbor Day was an important holiday for him. Well done.

My father served in the South Pacific also - and yes, this day was extremely important to him, too. Thank you for your thoughtful review :-) Brooke

Hullo Adewpearl ....
I enjoyed reading this short poem about Pearl Harbour, filled as it is with your questions as to whether the Christmas gifts had been bought and wondering what all the people there had been thinking of before their lives and their ships were ripped apart.
You might like to read the poem I wrote about Pearl Harbour which I posted on the 3rd of June, 2006. It is titled "Heroes All The Same."
Thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ... Nanette Mary.

Lots of questions never answered after this horrendous Japanese act. They paid dearly for it but was all of the attack on Pearl Harbor foreseeable not to mention preventable?
The poem is well written with perfect rhythm and rhyme.

This is so sad to think about - such a tragedy -
and still it goes on. Let us all hope the message
of the Prince of Peace, someday takes hold.
Blessings to you for your thoughtful reminder.

Thank you, Nancy - yes, we don't seem to have learned much from this tragedy. Brooke

My, what a perfect picture of peace and color presentation. Your commemoration using powerful questions is very appropriate. Thank you for lending your mighty talent to this tribute.

What a tragedy.... this bombing at Pearl Harbor.
Your poem points out the loved ones left behind, planning for Christmas joy with sons and daughters who would never return.
Very well done.

My father served during the time of WWII with orders to be stationed at Hickum Field just a few days before the attack. He was in transit to Hawaii when news of the attack came. Subsequently, he was diverted to bases in the caribean and routinely flew the bermuda triangle... his plane was a "sub chaser" and was credited with sinking four german U-boats in waters off the coast of florida.
I love your poem!

Pearl Harbor Day. The people of that day really did believe the "Day of Infamy" would never be forgotten. It is by way too many people, especially the young who have no real basis for understanding it. Good job. ann

Hi Brooke...you have penned beautiful quatrains but what strikes me the most are the questions you asked. Very clever and innovative. I prefer to write dates in words instead of numbers but I recognize that would ruin your syllable count. Well done....blessings....chey

Actually, written out the syllable count would be right, but I don't like writing numbers that large out, especially dates, which traditionally are not. Thanks, Chey, for your most supportive comments. Brooke :-)
