I love this poem because it asks a question that we have all thought about once. Sometimes I wish I had a crystal ball so that I could peek into the future but I guess life wouldn't be so exciting. This is a well constructed poem with a good rhyming scheme. A very thought provoking and intelligent poem.

Interesting. I'm not too intrigued by the modern sonnet for the lacking of "restrictions" as you say but can see no reason to deduct so five stars. Please, take care.

I loved it. I agree with you and don't think that I'd want to know when it's over, or when one day is going to be better than the next. Thanks for sharing.

So much reality and truth to your poem here. There are many days when I feel this way too. I think things have to happen for certain reasons and I also think when we are faced with hard times, it is done so that we can learn and become stronger. It does help to have friends and family who can see us through these tough times though. Your poem has an important message and is an encouraging one. Beautiful write!

Dear adewpearl,

What a fabulous concept, give me the chart I may just take a daily peek, nailing up the door for safety on a bad day (lol), My life has been rather sad yet colourful sometimes my own doing...people tell me I would not be the person I am today, Well yes maybe better (lol), Now you see how your wonderful poetry is so thought provoking.
Warranty not included flowed as always to perfect, sparked up my imagination and as always was a pure treat to read...there is nothing I could or would change ...As always I adore the read.

Thank you again

Steve

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, view and concept with the rest of us.
This is well worded and well expressed giving way to the desires one can undergo when seeking to find answers to questions of the future, not through God, but through other means. And then comes this determined stance that even if the opportunity arose, it would not be taken, because living by the whims of what another surmises is not living life to the full.
The joy of life is living both the good and bad and learning from them both to be a better person, not because we know the answers but that we learn them after the experience. If we seek the advice of so-called seers, we could end up with mud on our face, living a half life dependent upon the presumptions, assumptions and say so of those who use cards, crystal balls, numbers and the rest to determine how we should live.
Thanks for your notes also, for they gave a deeper insight behind the poem you have shared. And admittedly the thought does enter, but whether the action goes with it, is indeed another story. I like how you think.
Thanks for the journey this created and many blessings to you

Hello dewpearl.
This sure reads like a beautiful flowing sonnet with keen thinking. However There are some who can "see" but it could be bad. I've had two experiences (in Ireland of course, lol) that proved this to me, no guessing mumbo jumbo. Most however are as fake as false eyelashes. Anyway I wouldn't seek it out either...well not anymore. lol. fondly, rebecca
Great work here. rebecca

Nicely done modern sonnet about the unpredictability of life. I liked the way you broached the question of anticipating in advance life's events and controlling your days.

First off, I love that title. Caught my attention right away and it's perfect for this piece. I can relate to this. Sometimes I want that preview of the day to come in advance to let me know whether I should call in sick or not...lol. As you say, warranty not included. I enjoyed this. Thanks.
