This, Brooke, is a well-rhymed and metred poem, which has taken some working out in order to ask the intelligent questions that you pose within its parameters. I'll have to read it several times in order to extract the most from it. I believe that, when we discover yet another scientific fact, we only reveal what God already knows. He will have the last word because he is so blindingly brilliant compared with us, but he loves us and wants our company. That is our place, to be with him. Peter.

thank you, Peter, for such thoughtful comments - I do think it is our place to be with God, but another point of the poem is that we are a bit too full of ourselves and truly suck at our place of dominion over other of God's creatures. :-) Peace, Brooke

You are right; we are too arrogant. Being charged with stewardship implies that we do it with respect for God's creation, really carying for plants and animals, and not razing and destroying as we do so frequently.

You ask good questions here, mostly of the scientific comunity. I think that there are equaully good questions to be asked of the religious comunity on the same theme that you don't ask, I would also have liked to see some of your answers, to personalize the piece.

Never the less, a strong thoughtfull piece, as I've come to expect from you. Well done.

oh, I thought I was asking questions of the religious community when I suggested we are being quite presumptuous to place ourselves in a hierarchical rank close to God and when I suggested that if God, indeed, did give us dominion, which I highly question, we are not doing a good job of exercising it! Thanks for your thoughtful review :-)

Woops, sorry. You are of course right. Sometimes my enthusiasm gets ahead of me. (Sometimes?)

While I'm grateful we have dominion over the beasts, I'm not all that grateful for what we've done with the responsibility. I half to laugh, we're only a few degrees above the mapping for grass!

You've asked the hard questions. Ones up for theological debate as well as scientific. Bravo! Sue

God's touch, perhaps, raises us above our kin, but leaves us hollow when compared to ourselves. Some of us are angels on earth, and others are devils. Beasts have no such place, and live without guilt or evil. They exist only to survive and their anger with one another does not imprison them. Only man judges other than God. So who is more evolved? Interesting poetry. God Bless, Ezra

This is the best I've read from you. Excellent rhyme and content. The poem makes us question ouselves and the science we depend on to give us all the right answers. A challenging viewpoint expressed here. babbi

This is very thought provoking and I always appreciate thought provoking. Man has been searching for answers since the beginning of time. The "Why" of things. But he only considers the "Why" of things once he is secure in his place. When man is struggling to eat today, he thinks little about the stars, the Universe, and his place.

The ability to use logic and forethought, separates us, to a certain extent. Animals will eat their fill and trust they will find food the next time they are hungry. Man plants food for future meals.

But when man cannot plant, cannot save, cannot secure his tomorrow.. he thinks little and only seeks to survive the day. Just my humble opinion. ZeeZee (Great essay Brooke)

You certainly have asked some deep questions here. I loved the poem, the flow is good and use of words supreme. The fact that we can communicate, that we seem to have more advantages than any other beast shouldn't make us arrogant and abusive to anyone or anything lesser. All life should be respected until the final answer.

Well written. It certainly deserves "All time Best." jada

Sometimes I doubt that we are the greatest of God's beasts, and I suppose that puts me in the minority. None of God's other creatures declares war on itself, muddies its nest, degrades its young. There are hiearchies, of course, but that is the way of all God's beastss. How does that make us best? Chickens also walk on two feet.

You got my point precisely - if we have dominion, we're certainly screwing it up royally!! thank you :-)

there is a connection to all and everything in this universal plane of existence. Quantum physics proves this in its experiments. When mankind finally realizes that we are no more or less than anything else in this universal plane. Then just maybe we will lose our self centered arrogance. I really enjoyed reading this presentation of yours. It put those thoughts in my mind.Thank you for sharing your poetic thoughts with all of us out here in cyberspace... John

This is a clever piece of
work, Brooke, very thought-provoking.
With a smooth flow to the words and
