Loved it, just loved it! What I like most is I kept picturing in my head (as I'm sure you did) what it might be like for an alien to land on Earth and meet someone like this for their first contact. Although being in the U.S., I'd have gone with redneck (ignorant rural sort, if you're not familar).
Funny all the way through, and maybe the only thing preventing me from giving this a six is I prefer my humor a little more subtle.
P.S. IT trainer, huh? I did that myself for a few years.
***But first let me tell you about a funny thing*** Loved this line!

Glad you liked it.

Well this one sure is, but it was more broad-based humor, wasn't it? It's like this: I can appreciate quality writing regardless of whether it's my style. This clearly qualifies.

This was a very funny and interesting read. Much enjoyed your characters and the dialogue. Love the last line of the story. Totally cool piece. Hugs and smiles, Susanne

Thank you. I was in two minds as to whether to leave the last line in, but I'm glad I did now.

Hey Snodlander
Ah, Jobworths! They are a figure of ridicule the world (and even the galaxy) over! I hate these officious little shits!
I loved how you gave this jobsworth the job that seems to define them the most --- the dreaded traffc warden! This was funny and well written. Very enjoyable.

OK. You're passion on the subject is just a little frightening, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review

Ah, gods, I enjoy your writing, snodlander. It's just so bloody funny. I grew up on English humour (well, I say "grew up" but interpret that as you will) - the Goons and Python. Your writing's in that wonderful self-deprecating and definitely twisted vein. Love it.
This is no exception; the idea of the unfortunate ambassador running into a pond-life variety of British bureaucracy is just too funny. Yellow lines and red tape. Perfect. There's not a thing to change in this.
Cheers,
LL :)

Dammit, I wish I had thought of the yellow lines and red tape line.
Thank you for the six, and the comparison with the Goons.

My pleasure!

I really had a good laugh out of this one: an Ambassador of the Federation of Slotharian Planets landing his shuttle in a carpark and getting a ticket from the attendant. What a beautiful idea for a real comedy. The message that seeped through, intentionally or otherwise, is also interesting viz. that the earth authorities are not really on guard against alien landings and that car park attendants have heard so many crazy excuses about parking in the wrong area that nothing surprised them anymore. Love the piece.

I get the feeling from reading this impressive piece that somehow you have tuned into the celestial radio station broadcasting inspiration from the vast beyond. Your words are alive with bright detail and strike as hard as steel. A spectacular piece. It was a sheer joy to read!
You got talent, man. I always come away from your stuff entertained.Zaphod Beeblebrox would be proud!
I'd give you a 6 but am currently fresh out.

"Days he had rehearsed it on the long journey" Awkward..I would revise.
"he hadn't considered the possibility of hecklers in the audience." Ha...cute!

It may be a cultural thing. It's the way I and my peers would express it, but I'll look at it when I have some distance
Thanks, glad you liked it
