Hi, Jesse. My neck, c3-c7, was fused about 13 years ago. I know of the before and after pain, but the recovery is so sweet. I can't do some things like high-impact activities. And I do some things differently. I twist my body more than my neck when driving, But the pain is gone, and now I can put my attention on something more positive.
I liked reading your post and learning more about you. I wish you the best on your journey and for your surgery.
Thanks for writing.

You are the third one today who has also had neck surgery. That your neck pain is gone, is amazing to me. I am happy for you and hope the same for me, in the future. I am glad you liked learning about me. My journey is best for me when shared with others.
Thanks for the encouraging words and positive feedback.

Thank you Jesse, for this update. You continue to be an inspiration as you find ways to remain positive as you deal with each new challenge. You should be very proud of yourself for how you have managed to find little rays of light and hope in each new situation. I wish you the very best, and continued success in everything you set out to accomplish.

First off, good luck on your surgery. Hopefully everything works out in an awesome manner.

So many on Fanstory with chronic pain. Sad.

Glad you are up to the challenge. Mental state is a big part of healing.

Best wishes!

This is so true. Our mental state is a huge part of the healing process and helps us to endure the pain while recovering.
    Thanks for your positive feedback.
    Take care,

Good for you. The feeling of independance is one I don't want to give up. I will go as long as I can taking care of my own needs although many much younger than me are in assisted living. At eighteen I went from my parents home to being married and after 61 years of marriage my husband died. People felt I were never make it living alone because I had never been alone. I live in huge house on 19 acres with no near neighbors even though I have physical problems and pain too, I love being alone. It has been over six year now and I'm okay.

I am happy for you, Beth. You are an inspiration to me. Living alone isn't for everyone, but for people like us, there is no better way than to be in one's own company. Thanks for the encouraging words.
    Have a wonderful day.

Thanks for sharing the update and notes, Jesse. I hope that the surgery you need will bring the needed relief from your pain. You do a good job describing what it is like on a typical day. I am glad you are able to express yourself using your laptop, and that you can work through the pain.

I am glad to hear you have found independence within yourself, and you are finding ways to have comfort from the pain. It sounds like it is working well and you are happy, along with your friends. I am also glad to hear you are facing the challenge. Thoughts are with you. Take care and be well. A good attitude is half the battle.

It took courage to share this and courage to do what you're doing. And aren't you glad that left handed people are more creative than most people since they've lived in a right handed world? It helps you figure out how to do things differently.
Good luck with the surgery and recovery.

I'm happy for you and your will to do it your way, Jesse. :) Many do not wish to be alone after having a companion to help out. But if your dependence makes you feel held back I'm happy that you reached out to your inner self and now enjoy your independence. Be safe you friend and God bless.

I have only recently become aware that my dependence is holding me back. I now enjoy more independence.

Independence is a wonderful choice, Jesse. I'm happy you have incorporated into your life. I love audiobooks! I listen to them in the car every day as I travel between my piano lessons. This past week, it's been David Sedaris. Are you familiar with him? Hilarious!

Good luck with the positive, independent new approach to life.

Thank you for the good wishes, Rachelle.
I listen to music, more than audiobooks, preferring to relax and unwind from the painful feelings I experience continually.
    Enjoy the upcoming week.

I can relate to you story in relation to what my brother is going through right n.
He has been recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Long story short... he was in a rehab center for ab 2 weeks. He finally was able to return home. He wasn't very gracious about the care he had received... although I know he secretly appreciated it. He expressed how he had felt he had been treated like a baby... too much coddling, including being under their constant control and annoying care... as he out it. I patiently reminded him that's what he had been there fir because in all reality he was... at the time... really too weak to fo some of those tasks himself.
But he has been single gor many years and was simply just used to taking of himself and was just glad to finally be back home. He still has hospice care about 3 times a week and has adjusted well to their care.
It's hard to do if limited but so happy you... and him... have times to help yourself as best you can.
Continue to do well and thank you for sharing this with us.
