I really enjoyed reading this! It was well-written and thought out. I did not know all this about Robert Frost, even though I'm in NH, and he had a home here. It made me wonder as I read through the poem. Your notes explained it all, and I thank you for that! Blessings, Cathy

I enjoyed your tribute to Robert Frost, and I have to say I think I also liked some of his earlier work a little better than the later books, although there was always some chaffing against what he considered to be social acceptabilities. Think of Mending Wall or Christmas Trees, or the Roadside Stand. I didn't like his poetry much when I was in college, I thought it too simplistic then, but lately I have come to admire his honest voice, the genuine language in his verse, and his ear for the music of language, which was unique. Stuff like Mountain Interval, New Hampshire, West Running Brook, Blueberries, The Road Less Travelled and of course Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening have become favorites of mine. I found it interesting to discover that he was not originally from New England, but California. He also lost several children over the years who passed away long before he did; I think only one daughter lived to a ripe old age. This had to have affected his sensibility. I was lucky enough to visit his grave in Bennington Vermont, and he stayed a poet to the end. His epitaph read: I had a lover's quarrel with the world. estory

Thank you so much for your kind review and all your additional and interesting information which is greatly appreciated. He was always fearful of inheriting his mother's 'madness' gene and it really seemed to scare him. So having his calming, pastoral world turned upside and losing those family members destabilised him and always made him wonder if he had in fact been wise in his decision-making and judgement. I think maybe we yearn less complicated poetry as we age because there is so much woe already in the world and a return to nature- and the spring of youth - is more gratifying? I'm delighted, anyway, it was meaningful to you (surprisingly quite a few have been far less familiar with him). Take care Debbie

Thanks for sharing this beautiful poem. I don't know much about Robert Frost, but I love the famous piece you've shared in the video.
The notes are indeed interesting, his life was truly tragic like that of many other famous writers, musicians, writers... it seems creativity and mental health are often related.

Thank you so much, Maria, for this exceptional review! I'm delighted you enjoyed, not least the video which is truly beautiful and every time I feel a little stressed I have a listen to it:) He fought through his depression but always worried that perhaps he should have taken another road that might have allowed him more time with his family. I think he was very scared by the possible inherited implications of his depression. Your thoughts are greatly valued here. Take care Debbie x

This is simply an exquisite tribute to a wonderful and if I may add, readable poet- sentiments expressed by Frost in his works with which we can all identify. Wish I had 6 left!

Debbie, I really enjoyed your biographic of my favorite poet Robert Frost. You detail his life and allude to some of his best loved poems. Your meter and rhythm are flawless. I think this poem will appeal to all ages. And your Notes are extremely informative. Rod

What a fabulous tribute to Robert Frost, the man and the poet. You show deep understanding of the paths of his life and how his innocent boyhood delight in nature took on different tones of darkness as he journeyed through dark times of depression and grief. Very impressive poem and notes (and presentation). Congratulations.

Excellent poem about the notorious Frost. It's packed with information I didn't know. It sounds like he had a hard life with his emotional and mental distresses. I know how hard they are. Well done!

Wow, thank you for sharing about Frost and giving me more information about his life and his personal mental/emotional torments. I never knew these things! Great job using his poem titles in the poem, too!
I think you a creating a wonderful book of poetry about famous poets. Perhaps in April, you might consider doing the National Poetry Writing Month - a poem a day. Having a theme like this helps.
Virtual six!

Thank you so much, Helen for your kind review and virtual six. This is all greatly appreciated. Lovely suggestion about the poem a day but I don't think I could really keep up with that sort of pressure and produce meaningful work :( Take care Debbie

I know - I felt the same. But if you don't promote high and just do a minimum certificate, you can do it. It was what started the poetry bug for me when I tried it. Anyway, just a thought.

Frost is one of my favorite poets and is the icon of New England. His poetry reflected the changes in his life. The road not taken captures the essence of regret and sadness. A very relatable piece. I enjoyed this tribute.

This is a great ode to the farmer and/or the poet.

I liked the smooth easy stream like flow.

My sweet spot was this stanza:

The rhythm of his verse would aim
to capture normal speech
and bring his artistry acclaim
to broaden then its reach.

Great!
