Thirty-six years is a lot to give up on. I hope that Judy will give this narrator a second chance. But it takes time to heal and little steps of daily nurturing the relationship, like reaching out and showing care that can cause the love to blossom again.

A very sad read , you may be on holidays in Portogallo but your thoughts dwell in the past and your heart is with your ex wife in America. And you are pinning.
You didn't stray and you worked hard all those years yet you are convinced that it's your fault if your marriage fell apart seeing you write:
I am reaching out to you for a chance to mend the hurt I have been responsible for.
You do realise that the fact your wife stopped being in love with you might not have anything to do with you. ( despite what she may have said).
During the pandemic a lot of marriages were under strain due to months of confinement,( lockdowns in 2020 followed by heavy restrictions in 2021)
Under all the pressure , irrational behaviour and decisions were made by many.
In time, your Judy could realise she made a mistake.
The phone call scheduled for next Spring , don t be already bleak and pessimistic about the outcome.
Don't pass these months thinking you have already lost.
In the short time you have been on fanstory, your poetry has delighted and often moved members.
Have faith that your heartfelt words will touch your ex wife also.
