A very interesting post, and a thoughtful and well written one. I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but I don't live in your country and where we live colours our thoughts and experiences. You did quite well in summarizing the events of the last sixty years, and an era before. Our present times are very challenging, but our country survived wars, catastrophes, and assassinations. We are a strong country and hopefully, with God's help, our country will again be united.

I really enjoyed your essay, a great overview of the last decades of life and you put in great perspective too by bringing in those biblical prophesies that seem to be getting fulfilled as we go on here. What really strikes me most is the degree to which people are being manipulated today by the media. Media shapes so much of our culture today, and that is controlled by the rich and powerful, who are getting their way today as much as they did in older times. The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same. The degree to which money is influencing politics is sharpening all the debates. Ever since the Supreme Court allowed unlimited lobbying and campaign contributions, we have become totally polarized. I don't think the average person understands how much these politicians make in lawmaking. That's why Pelosi and everyone else wants to be speaker of the House so much. The speaker controls legislation, and there is the money pot. They charge millions for some these laws. estory

It's a "crazy go nuts" world and we seem to divide wildly, either apathy or anarchy! Each side fails to see the middle ground. Common sense has eroded and yes, your points are all valid.
