From the time it was first brought to her attention, my granddaughter was always fascinated with the moon. As a result, I have a pewter moon ornament hanging on my bedroom mirror. Every time I look at it, I think of her.

A beautiful ABC poem, and I love the artwork.

Thank you so much, Lois - yes, even back before he could talk Sawyer would point excitedly at the moon and look in all directions when they went out until he located it. Your granddaughter sounds like another observant child who appreciates true beauty when she sees it :-) Brooke

this is very well written, brooke, you did an excellent job writing this abc poem about the beauty of the sky that can be witnessed by our eyes if we will just look up. I enjoyed reading it nd wish you the best of luck in the contest.

I'll bet sawyer loves this one. It's lovely and musical too. Good form for ABC. Wonderfully tasteful presentation. i like the mystical overtones. Love the alliteration and consonance of L in the first two lines. Fine consonance of S too. Fine rhymes.

Good luck!

Love,
rd

rama devi, thank you. I always post hot off the presses, so I'm sure Miranda and Sawyer haven't read this one yet, but yes, I'm hoping he'll enjoy his newly-discovered words :-) Brooke

Oh my mixing Spanish and English in the same poem. Will miracles ever cease? LOL I loved it and I am sure Sawyer will love it, if not now give him a few years and he will. One of the first grade bi-lingual teachers sent a child to my room to finish a paper. He sat there and cried. I asked him in Spanish what the problem was. He told me he didn't understand the directions. I fought to remember my Spanish and helped him in Spanish to understand. I had learned Mexican Spanish and studied in Spain. He spoke Puerto Rican Spanish and surprising there are differences. After he left one of my little boys told me, "Mrs. Wilkey, he speaks English to me out on the playground." GRRRRRR LOL

Barbara, thank you for your review and for sharing that delightful story. I'm still laughing LOL
Yesterday morning Sawyer pointed out the window as he excitedly shouted Luna, Luna, which is not a word Miranda ever taught him or heard him say before. She asked him what luna is and he answered, the Moon!! It would seem that he and the new Hispanic nanny are having lots of fun with the new words she is introducing him to :-) I love it! Brooke

Very nice, Brooke. I like Luna luminates. The picture is beautiful and makes a good illustration to go with the poem. I wondered what mariposa was. Didn't know it was butterfly. Thanks for sharing. Miss Sally

It's funny that I felt there was a hidden message in this when I read it. Then I read your author notes and I see it was for Sawyer. I love the unique words and the promise of something special for those willing to open their eyes. Great imagery and I love the picture choice. Good luck in the contest. Gretchen
