What beautiful and thoughtful quatrains. You make me wish I could experience your American fall and not my British Autumn.

I love the rainbow landscape reference which breathes colour into the poem immediately. Enjoyed the use of the words "consume" and "cornucopia". As always your rhyme and use of form are flawless.

This is a glorious piece and (as always) I would have given you six stars for this had I been able.

So glad to see you back - the place is so much brighter when you post work.

Kindest of regards,

Mrs D :-)

Living in Arizona as I do, I must dream of fall, or look at pictures every year when my family starts to talk about the falling orange and yellow leaves. Nicely written, good content and flow. Thanks for a lovely poem about the fall I don't normally get to see!

Really lovely quatrains, Brooke. The picture sets it all off nicely and your words carry the scene. I can see it all in my mind. Best wishes in this contest.

My dear, I just love your poetry and I'm finally going to do it and fan you NOW!

My favourite: ... a cornucopia of dreams .... such rich imagery in simple words.

That is your gift, you know - powerful depth in simplicity.

This is so visual! It is so easy to place myself right there inside your dreams. Damnitgirl! I don't know how you do it - but you sure do it with style! I still don't know why you aren't on the best selling list of poetry works!

What a moving tribute to fall, Brooke.
It is nostalgic in a way, but more, it is pleasant to read about the things you will hold in your memory. Things that are touchstones for many of us.
A great submission for the contest, and one that will be hard to beat.

Hi, Brooke, welcome back. I see you love of autumn so much (I do too, though I see it only through pictures and films). Now I see it through your eyes. I love the variety of words you choose to express the splendor and brilliance of summer. And now I know what cornucopia means...:)

Beautiful quatrains, Brooke, and a nice message througout. I enjoy living in an area where we can experience all the seasons, and spring and autumn are my favorites.

Fall certainly has its charm and though summer is wonderful, it doesn't have the colors. When we're lucky enough to have all four seasons we learn to appreciate the beauty inherent in each one. Fall often comes as a great relief, to cool the heat, and even shorten the days to give us longer, more peaceful evenings.
Great word, "cornucopia."
Good luck in the contest, Brooke.

Hi, Brooke, and I hope you're thoroughly enjoying your family visit and that Sawyer is growing and in good health.

You've written final stanza in more difficult ABAB rhymescheme, tough the rest of the ABCB rhyme is tops.

'I'll have to dream a flock of geese
to travel 'cross October's sky' - doesn't quite work grammatically for me, and maybe just change 'to travel' to 'has travelled', though I realise you're saying it's YOU who's travelling, but I find it ambiguous.

Lots of excellent lines, and I particularly like:

'will grow on my imagined vine' metaphor.

Excellent read.

Best wishes, Ray
