I love tales of the sea. This is a fine piece of work that will stand the test of time. Many a sailor is most familiar with the enchantment of the sea. And many have met their fate by that same temptress. You have painted the picture well. Thanks for sharing. Mike

So, so nice, Brooke. You blend the two rhythmic patterns seamlessly, and your poem speaks to that primordial thing in all of us ... something older than words.

Beautiful poem and I like the rhyme scheme and artwork. I like the last stanza: In the glow of the midnight moon
when the dawn has no hold on me,
I listen only to the call
of the dark, enchanting sea.
Reminds me of pirates. A+ poem. :)

The sea has always beckoned, like a genetic marker, calling us back to our origins. It's a sensuous, almost erotic call, "Like a lover who can't resist a seductress who gets her way."
Luscious, Brooke. I love the sea as a lover, and I relate to this wonderful poem. Wish I had saved a 6. LOVED it!

I have learnt so much from this poem and your authors notes, the rhyme is amazing with a perfect rhythm, the message was very mysterious and romantic, there was some great alliteration, my favourite part was the first two lines of the last stanza, really great,

I read your poem, then read the author's notes. I then reread your poem aloud. It was much better aloud. Harley sits next to me and gets into trouble when I'm on the computer. He tilted his little head and listened. I guess he approved of your poem too.

This nice poem takes me to moments of remembering the rushing sounds of the sea during early hours. Very strong wording with a great rhythm. My compliments to the poet. Blessings

Water has a healing energy and calms the soul. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for an interesting read.

I have no 6's left, but I believe this deserves at least a 5 1/2. As far as I can tell, you have stayed within this difficult format, and at the same time evoked the feeling of the narrator's love and attraction for the mysterious sea. The rhyming seemed perfect to me. The poem was neither too long nor too short, making it an enchanting read.

Brooke, To use your words, this lovely sincere poem is "enchanting" and dramatic. It is sophisticated and praiseworthy of the work that you are famous for! Very nice. Carole
