Ah, the terrible twos! I remember them well. Lovely humour here to disguise the frustration! One of the apocryphal stories in our family is of my brother at a similar age. He wouldn't eat his porridge and so was left sitting in his high chair while the rest of the family retired to the kitchen to do the washing up. When my mother returned, he was sitting there gazing out of the window, the bowl upturned upon his head with porridge trickling down behind his ears. Needless to say, in later life he became a judge!

And you marvelous inspiration of this joyous child is a spring well fed Brooke. Enjoyed this rhyming tale of King Alexander. I can for sure relate to trying to reason with a child... no luck! Great job always lady.

I can't help but think of the term 'boy king' when I see the picture and the verse below it. A delightful little jaunt, my friend. The 'terrible twos' come to mind as well. Let's just hope he won't continue to take it out on his 'subjects'. No suggestions, just appreciation.

Alexander the Great? I sure liked this one; kids will try anything to have rubbish food instead of veggies. I used to pack my peas under my plate-side, hoping mommy dearest wouldn't find them and, when she did - sitting in my high-chair, I fired them at the stove instead. She always found the peas! Happy poem and well versed. Hugs, K. ****** six virtual cause I ain't got six to give you.

Mothers mothers... they always have such issue with their children, lol. Everyday in my life, I always tell my children that they are lucky they have food to eat. When we were young, it's only during holidays when we get to eat delicious food because my parents were poor. It will be seconded by my husband who'll tell them that he only have water and salt for his viand. Hah! What a life! Our children should be happy they have us - both of us agreed to work harder for our children future. c", Mae

HAHAHAHAHAHA - uh, oh - best not even try with this little tyke, 'cause "Alexander" knows his stuff, judging by this poem (and that lip)! What a charmer, Brooke - this poem is wonderful!!!

Dawn, thank you so much :-) Yep, he's a charmer, but he can also be, as his Mommy calls him, a naughty nugget :-) Thanks so much. Brooke

LOL. Even so, that's a bit revealing - "nugget" = gold. *grin*

With lip pooched out and the green light about to turn red I would dare say with out a doubt little Sawyer is about to be fed. Well done Grandmother.

In the battle of wills, a strong mother will always win. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.

This is lovely. The rhyme and rhythm are so well executed. It brings back memories of my own children and, now living with two grandsons who are 6 and 4, I can so relate to this! Well done, and thank you for starting my day with a smile.

Hi, Brooke,
I resonate to the rhyme and rhythm of this exceptional poem with its excellent meter, rhyme and figurative language.(moniker for kings) Probably a moral for this tale is that none of us should ever grow up.
Preston:-)
