Hello, Brooke!
It's been a while since I've been on FS, and I'm glad to see you're still writing and posting. Haven't come across something you've penned in some time.
I love the memories you invoke for us to share in, for that's what really triggers my senses, causes me to feel - I spent a few years living in the Midwest, and my favorite time was Autumn, watching the leaves turn colors, the air grow crisper; winter is my least favorite season, though, so Autumn was also bittersweet in that regard, a final caress before a long good-bye.
Your imagery really brought me back to mornings I would walk outside in late September and October, watching the sunrise and the world awaken in hues of crimson and copper.
Lovely write, my friend, and good luck in the contest,
- TR

Great job on this. Welcome back to FS. I missed your daily missives. The poem has an even flow and great bouncy rhythm. I love the concept of "imagining" an Autumn if it disappeared. Great job

Hello Brooke
What a lovely poem indeed. Yes we are lucky in this part of the world to get autumn. I just did not appreciate that some have nevere seen autumn or even spring and winter.
What a sweet poem and so well written. I think you are on a winner with this and I am sure it will win.
Best of luck anyway, not that you will need it.
Blessings

This poem shares an appreciation for the colorful season of autumn. If we imagine that it would disappear, that makes us appreciate it more. The poem flows with good wording and strong imagery. It is a delight to read and an excellent entry into the contest. Good luck.

Not bad for a beginner :)
Beautifully written. As natural as the seasons themselves.
You inspire us all to write a better day.
Kind regards Trimple

Autumn is a beautiful time when the leaves turn and there's slight nip in the air. I love the inclusion of geese and a pumpkin. Cornupia --makes one think of Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday. Glad to have you back. You must write about your visit with the grandson.

It is true. We all would miss that special time of the year. Sometimes I wish it would last longer. It is such a beautiful time of the year. If fall would never come again, then some of us would miss the beautiful white snow and the lovely spring flowers and blossoms, too. Each season is a wonder to behold. Thank you for the lovely poem, Brooke.

This lovely autumnal verse deserves a six, but have none to give, Brooke, I'm sorry to say.
Beautiful imagery - love the burnished gold of the leaves - matches the artwork you've chosen!
Also like your expression 'cornucopia of dreams'.
I'd love a touch of autumn right now - everything is brown and yellow from the summer heat :(
Hope you had a lovely visit with your family!
Regards, Barb

Wow! I cannot believe that you were able to use the word cornucopia without having to find a rhyme for it. LOL. Your poem is so beautiful, it is very sad to even have to contemplate the loss of autumn. I live in Southern California, and even here fall is a welcome sight, at least to most of us. You create beautiful imagery with your well chosen words, the cadence is crystal clear and well formed. This is another very fine effort on your part. Congratulations.

nomi, I'm no fool - I never end a line with a word that bizarre if it has to rhyme! LOL :-) Thanks so very much, my friend :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke to be called friend by one you admire and respect is a very fine gift. Thank you.

This lovely poem effectively implies the suggestion that we use our vision to take as many "pictures" of a season's beauty as possible--as though we'd never really see the elements of that season again. Very good
