This is a great piece - I love dandelions and can't figure out who had the gall to call them weeds. Grandma used to make dandelion wine. Sawyer sure is a good-looking little guy and an ideal model for your words - Dinah

I'm not sure that many gardeners would agree with you here! I remember the joy as a child of blowing on the seed heads and watching all of the little parachutes wafted away on the wind! you are right though, they do make a cheerful golden carpet on roadside verges and in meadows.

Wow, Your poem says it all. I can't wait to see a dandelion sprout on my lawn. Your words are smooth as silk. The poem is a delight.(and of course, the picture is , too)

How wonderful that every single picture of Sawyer inspires a poem! Perhaps it's because little children (who have yet to become enculturated) ARE poetry in human form!
And it's such a wonder observing THEIR wonder at the simplest things in life. It's also a reminder for us about what's really important.
Another fine offering, Brooke.
Cheers

A true rite of passage I would say. I am sure that he will be bringing mom (and maybe Grandma} beautiful bouquets of the yellow variety as well. Thank you for sharing this

Aw, that is so lovely, will he have blown the seeds to see what time it is? We used to do that when we were children, never got it right though, lol. We called them Grandfather Time, when the yellow petals had turned to seed. Such lovely days. Yes, I would have liked that as my career, bliss! xsx Sandra

OK, I'm ancient, Brooke, but I remember so clearly blowing those dandelion seeds when I was a kid, so thanks for the lovely memories.
Like it all, but especially the sweet last line closure.
Cheers, Ted

Ahhh, Spring! Is it for real - is it really here? :) As always your take on life is enjoyable, especially the ones that feature Sawyer. Happy Spring!

Lovely title carried forward to your first line - good alliteration! Two good stanzas in abcb rhyme scheme. Spreading Springtime - more good alliteration and that is exactly what Sawyer is doing with his dandelion clock, spreading the seeds. Regards Dorothy
