What a great poem for kids (as are all your kids' poems). First, it's cute and fun. Second, it shows them that they can "become butterflies" if they are patient. :)

Love this poem. It's cute and well written but with a message that has some depth. I especially love the last line in the first paragraph 'a woolly version of the worm' It's so cute it made me smile.

Brooke, You really should publish. The caterpillar and the Lady Bug are poems that young children would greatly enjoy.
When my girls were small I read, "They Would Put Me in the Zoo,"about a zillion times before I realized it was written by Richard Lopshire and NOT Dr. Seuss.

This is a wonderful poem for children, Brooke, in that I can see a child's eyes widening with wonder of the imagination you've created. I also liked the words, including the alliteration of 'plumpest peach', which should aid a child with diction for example, crispest pear almost makes the mouth water! Wonderful, Giddy

I wish that I had six stars - all the time! Because this lovely poem deserves a boost. Nature is perfect - man imperfect, we can learn a lot from the white fly that lays her eggs and produces a caterpillar with pretend eyes to foil attackers - beautiful in green livery and then...wonderful when he/she emerges as a butterfly with stained-glass wings. How wonderful your poem and how wonderful our God.

I like that this concentrates on the struggle side of the caterpillar and pre-metamorphosis stage. The butterfly is mentioned in passing. Interesting ang a fun.

It may become a butterfly
who navigates the spacious sky,
but long before it finds its call,
the caterpillar has to crawl.
This gives us a great lesson for life.....that we have to crawl before we can fly....well done
God bless
