This short poem is a very descriptive writing about the wind and leaves a vivid trail of various breezes. The picturesque language causes the reader to envision the scene before them.

Make that wind blow for sweet Sawyer.
I love the way you've brought the wind to life, this reads more as a fable. The poor animals have my empathy in their plight ...wonderful, Brooke.

Cold wind outside is the perfect reason to stay in and snuggle up. Who wants to challenge the mighty wind? Adorable back-story!

Sawyer is starring again and inspiring his grandma.
Written in grand poetic style as usual this poem takes the form of quatrains with aabb rhymes.
Loved this--for neither fox nor fleetest hare
will e'er outrun its bitter air.

this is very well written, brooke, you did an excellent job writing this quatrain poem about the wind that has its way and nobody can stop it as it wraps itself around everything that tries to stop it. i love the picture and the notes.

It looks like Sawyer is imitating the wind in this picture, too. I enjoyed looking at the picture and reading your poem. It seems to describe the cold weather we are getting this year.
I guess where Sawyer lives, his mom and dad only hear about the frigid weather we are having.

April, thank you so much :-) Yes, in the L.A. area they've been having 85 degree weather the past few weeks. Sawyer plays outside in shirt sleeves. :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke
I enjoyed your poem about the wind and little Sawyer with his fans. I've got to tell you a story.
Your poem reminded me of a song by The Imperials, called "Let The Wind Blow".
http://youtu.be/8fE7Gyqq2oI
This happened back in the early 90's. I was asked to sing at a benefit for the son of a previous pastor. He had fallen from his dorm window at university, and was hurt pretty badly. My wife and Linda Cameron joined me as we sang "Let The Wind Blow". The song's message, as well as the message in your poem, is that the wind will blow. Tempests will rage in our lives, and we need to trust in the Lord during those times. Ironically, as we sang the song, my microphone slipped in its stand, and landed with a clunk by my knees! What could I do? I just swallowed my embarrassment, and caught up with the girls after my initial fluster.
"wind is whooshing"...nice alliteration
"But Wind just puffs its chest and fills
its lungs to blow another round"... I like the personification here.
"boisterous and blust'ry" ... more alliteration
My favourite lines,
"neither fox nor fleetest hare
will e'er outrun its bitter air"
Nicely penned!

I sure do hope there's no Sawyer wind in that trolley! loved your poem - great AABB rhyming and a different type of subject matter. Wind in the Willows will be Sawyer's next book! Well done Mrs Blade.

Sawyer is obtaining his early education at Home Depot. I love a man who can fix things! Now from the "wind" section to the electrical dept. A great poem that paints an easy picture of a blustery day. Loved the personification of
"wind", who puffs his chest and fills his lungs. A fun read. smiles, Robin :)

Robin, I love that everything is exciting to him. Later that day they went to Target where he was utterly enthused about the "elewaiter" button. LOL Thanks so much :-) Brooke

It is amazing how simple things like fans whom we ignore inspire children to find magic in them. Perhaps, if adults had this child-like quality, the world will be more magical and a greater place to live in although right now the fox and hare are having some issues.
