What a compelling and passionate piece. It is sad,and causes the reader to ponder on the whys and why nots in life. I appreciate your notes as well, and they caused me to get teary-eyed.

I wrote more, but erased it. Your poem is what stands out here and that's how I'm leaving it.

Thanks for writing this.

Pen, thank you. This is not my usual sort of write, but I felt compelled once asked if I had ever written about her. Brooke

Brooke, how sad this poem is. Lines like: "her compass pointed straight to fail" are tragic, but masterful, partly because of the unexpected use of the word "fail".

Great poem, as always, Brooke.

Thank you, John. I don't usually write such downbeat poems, but I thought about it more and more after I was asked if I had written about this once beautiful girl who died such an ugly death. Brooke

Although people make their own choices, it is not fair to blame them for the pain they have to go through. I feel that aids is one of the worst ways to go. I enjoyed the poem.

And yet, I've listened to the rants of television preachers and others who blame away. Thank you for your thoughtful response. Brooke
