It is a very well written piece, but one that has a sad tone to it. Dreams and fairytales, sometimes turn out to be just that, but one must always hold out hope and make sure it is not themselves that destroys them.

I've probably paid a very high price chasing after them, but at least I was satisfied that I did everything that I could. A good friend is worth that to me, but usually they didn't see the value in me. Hell, the last three years, I even paid a heavy financial price for dreams and feelings.

Oh, so sad...I love the first stanza-"hope that flew on wings unseen", "but that was then when I was green"-very nice. This makes me remember being younger, and believing that hopeful love was on wings, that it was all like a fairy tale. The last two lines in the second stanza are very good-strong, nice ending lines. I really liked these quatrains a lot!!

You have written about the human experience most of us go through. "That more than hope on wings can fly" is a wonderful life that reflects true life.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Reminds me of something that Paul said in his letters to the Church of Corinth. " When I was a child I acted like a child. But when I became a man I put those foolish things behind me." I love the fact that you still have such a wonderful and blazing imagination. And I also love the theme of this poem which to me was that in order to grow up we must let go of the things of the past. Which we look to the present were never meant to last. Loved the romanticsm of the fact that you were deeply fond of those days and that even though those days were gone that you will still remember then fondly despite the irony now that you have to let them go.

This is a very nice short poem which tell us about deception. I think that sometimes fairy tales comes true. Experience turn us more selective. It is very well written and the artwork is perfect!
Congratulations!

thank you, laren. I know from couples at my church, especially, that there are fairytale marriages out there, but alas, it was not to be for me :-) Brooke

Growing up is such a drag! I hate having to put away my childish things. I still cling to silly dreams and new adventures. Perhaps I will for a bit longer. Not ready to admit yet "to love that paused but passed me by."
A thinking poet's poem, Brooke.
Now, I'll need to meditate myself back to my 'observer' mode. LOL!
And a good Sunday morning to you, too.

The flow is great, the message ... kind of sad. But it's so true for so many people. Children grow up with Disney shows; Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty. Always a happy ending, always love wins in the end. Real life doesn't work that way, yet, at the same time it would be incredibly cruel to take those fantasies away.

I suppose in the end there are stages people must go through, and then, when they are older they have to decide for themselves whether or not to believe in magic.

My mind is on over drive this morning, but I still liked it. ;)

How beautiful! The way that this trips rhythmically and gently off the tongue makes me feel as if it could be repeated in places to form a chorus and then turned into a rather haunting little song!
