That would be a terrible thing to go through. I've never heard of that legend before, but it's interesting how they thought of that so long ago, yet we did just a few years ago. Nice job on this!

It happened to our assistant minister and his wife several years ago - she was almost full term when the baby died, how heartbreaking. Thank you, my friend. Brooke

Still birth is still an issue in America. You would think that modern day science could help ease the parents suffering. Very well written.

Yes, one in 160 births seems like a high number to me for all our modern science. Thanks, Charlie. Brooke

Thank you for another beautiful, well-written rispetto, with a lovely message. I will never pass a field of daisies again without thinking of the stillborn babies, the broken hearted parents, and this Celtic legend.
Unforgettable words. "...please pause awhile to listen for a baby's laugh" So touching.

I didn't know there was a Stillborn Remembrance Day. I can't imagine the heartbreak that those parents go through when the baby they have longed to hold is taken before it's even born. Wonderfully crafted poem with natural rhymes, nice rythmn and flow. Beautiful and touching and comforting all at once. You, my friend, are a very talented poet, and I am blessed by your poems.
Blessings!
Diane

I did not know either until I looked up the day, and then before church I could not think of a hook for a poem to commemorate it. So I got home from church and decided to instead go with a flower legend and randomly looked up daisy legends, only to find out daisies in Celtic legend were created from the spirits of stillborn babies. Well, that was way too much of a coincidence - I figured someone or something was telling me I had better write this poem!! Thank you, Diane, for your generous reception of this poem it seems I was destined to write :-) Brooke

A very touching gentle soft loving poem offering peace and understanding, a chance to share heartfelt condolances and a bit of love. As always your work is without blemish and illicits only an "awe" from this reader.. Kudos! Lora

Well, you went and made me cry. What a beautiful and touching poem and until I read your notes I had never heard of Stilbirth Remembrance Day. The story of the daisies brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this wonderful and heartfelt poem with all of us. Daisies will now and forever hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you, Valerie - I had never heard of it either until researching September 6 - it certainly is something worth commemorating, all those little ones who never had their chance to become someone we all get to know and remember. Brooke

Your writing goes so deep, yet says so much in just a few flowing words. I am a great admirer of your writing.
