Thought provoking writing
focusing on the morals of
the world, exemplified by
the great choice of art work.
You have in six tiny words
recited a story that is
timely as today's newspaper
headline.
Well done

These six words did seem to have a deeper meaning, but when I read the author's notes, I realized that, at least for me as a reader, that I interpreted the poem wholly differently. I felt sympathy for the pregnant girl, and thought that she felt abandoned by God, yet still produced a beautiful grandchild. So I didn't see the political commentary the author's notes indicate. I have to judge the poem qua poem and not on the author's notes, but if I had taken into consideration the author's effort to portray the message in the notes, I would grade it much lower, as I didn't see that at all. With the interpretation I understood, though it was not the writer's intention, I feel the poem is worth five stars.

Excellent. Very subtle. Very short and to the point. It does take a village to raise a child and not allowing right from wrong to be taught not only does not make sense, it is irresponsible. Congratulations.

The picture tells one story and then the verse takes it in another direction. Finally the author notes clarifies the poem's intent. Good contest entry. ann

Hi
I'm not fully aware of your meaning..but you seem to have pulled this off. Your notes say "prayersd were taken away from schools"...how? Were they banned?

Thanks for the review and comments. The Engel v. Vitale decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1962 prohibited state-mandated prayer in public schools classrooms. Thus God was expelled.
-
what is "state-mandated prayer" as opposed to "prayer"?
Gavin
-
Prayer led by the teachers, with no opportunity to not participate,
-
Does not sound very fair to me
