A skilfully written poem with perfect metre and good end rhymes and I enjoyed the sentiment here. I like the fact that this was Spanish as some of their funerals, and headstones are quite lavish and expensive. Your poem is sensitive and your well chosen words tell an entertaining story, fabulous delivery and a pleasure to read Nancy, love Dolly x

Jim was 75 as well when he succumbed to cancer, Barb. Jim's birthday will be July third. I still miss him and I guess I always will. I remember about your husbands passing in March. I know the pain. Thanks for the review and stars. Many of my poems might bring you comfort. They have helped me heal. Hugs. Nancy:)

What a beautiful poem about your final moments with your hubby. It's well-written, your great word choice paints a vivid picture in the reader's mind. Great job.

Such a wonderful poem Nancy an I can relate to. Those last words you will never forget..My husband was never grateful, but you can't expect it from somebody with dementia... He saw me struggle with the situation. The night before he died he said: OMG what am I doing to you, you are such a lovely and great woman... and I knew it were his last words...his last goodbye. Wonderfully written Nancy, they mean a lot to us, those last words. Fia

That was a meaningful goodbye as well Fia. Maybe he wanted to say more but didn't have time. He may have been lifted out of the fog he had been in. How long were you married? Thank you for the review dear. Nancy:)xxx
-
Dear Nancy. I think it was his last clear moment. I was married for 40
years. He told me to go home and the same night he died. I did what I had to do and it was a sign of love and appreciation. Hugs Fia

Nancy,
This is so beautiful that it brings tears to one's eyes. I love your opening sentence. Etched in my memory, what a lovely sentiment!
Of course, as all of your metered poems, this poem is structured in perfect meter and rhyme,

This is beautiful. I'm so happy for you that you had this special moment. Some of us don't, and we go through reliving the experience without those words. A wonderful poem. Marilyn

I could have used more, but that was special when I thought about it later. Thanks for the review and stars, Marilyn.

I think we could all use more, Nancy. Most men seem to think once they're married there is no further need to express it. Very, very sad and very, very untrue. Marilyn

This is so beautiful and real and heartwarming that it brought tears to my eyes. It expresses a love so deep that even death cannot lessen its hold. The perfect meter and rhyme enhance the beauty of your words, and the repetition of the line that ends each stanza is particularly powerful.

Thank you, Michele. Poetry was my way of getting over his death. I have a bunch of these and I am trying to seek them out for a book. Thanks again. Nancy:)

This is beautiful but difficult to read, especially for elderly eyes. It would help if the font was larger and there was more contrast in the colors. This poem recalls such a sad moment, and the words you use to describe the words of parting are beautiful. That is certainly a moment that you couldn't forget. Beautifully presented. judi

Done! I agree, but we don't always think of those things when we post! Thanks for the comments and star Judi. xx Nancy:)

Something else I've recently been made aware of is that your writing may look different according to what device you're seeing it on. judi
-
Oh, that is so true. I am on Classic all the time except for edits and posting. Oh, but you are talking about Smart Phones I guess. I don't have one of those.
-
I don't know anything about those phones, either. I have a cell phone, but it's very old and is only used in case of emergency, such as ordering pizza. judi
-
HAHA. Me too. I had to scotch tape the back on mine. It kept falling off.
-
I can't believe how some people constantly use their cell phones. They can't seem to dine or shop without being on their phones. judi

Don't know how I missed this one first time around. I must have been out of town.
Anyway, it is beautiful. What a lovely memory to hold on to, knowing he was thinking of you and loving you to the end. What a blessing.
Hopefully it eases your broken heart.
Beautifully rhymed with strong meter for a smooth read.
I loved it.

Such a profoundly beautful sound to this, nothing more definite than words uttered in the dead of night than "I love you so". This is just so beautiful Nancy. The rhyme and the narrstive work so well together. Well done, blessings, Roy
Typo : The room(')s pale light.
