"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits."--Albert Einstein
"We need to reject any politics that targets people because of race or religion. This isn't a matter of political correctness. It's a matter of understanding what makes us strong. The world respects us not just for our arsenal; it respects us for our diversity and our openness and the way we respect every faith."--Barack Obama
"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future"--John F. Kennedy
"My psychiatrist told me I was crazy and I said I want a second opinion. He said okay, you're ugly too."--Rodney Dangerfield
"Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment."-- Will Rogers
"A man only learns in two ways, one by reading, and the other by association with smarter people.*"--Will Rogers--*Does not apply to you

I loved this post, but it also brought to mind Harry Chapin's lyrics. 'Sometimes words can serve you well, and sometimes words can go to hell...for all that they do."
The quotes you shared were spoken by men who lived their convictions--even Rodney Dangerfield--a comedian, going for the laugh. No one can possibly believe anything coming out of Trump's mouth.
As writers, I'd like to think we cherish language--and what it stands for. Trump, in my opinion, is not a patriot nor someone willing to serve. He's bankrolled the highest office in the country--if not the world--for personal gain--be it power or added wealth.
I'd wager he'll be remembered in history books who announced his run for office by slamming /mericans. Not even his lies are memorable.

This was a good post, Mike, some of these quotes certainly mean a lot, (a lot to a thinking person, that is) and trump is not one of those people.
I like this quote that came from Eleanor Roosevelt, it makes a lot of sense to me.
"No one can make you inferior without your consent"....
Its so true...when trump called the NFL players..."sons of bitches"...they didn't allow his nasty, ugly words stop them from continuing to be just who they are...in fact it heightened their feelings of self worth...It only made them more determined to use their money to help those without...so many of them do that right now...They didn't consent to be made to feel inferior.
Nothing last forever, though, and trump will not last forever, and his place in history won't be positive...it might take a long while before people realize the damage he has done to our country, in so many different ways....I just hope all parents teach their children that the hateful ways, and ugly names he calls those that disagree with him are not to be used.
He is an embarrassment to us as a country, and yet his children will follow in his footsteps...money, money money, that's their life's ambition and the more the merrier.
With every passing day he is becoming more frightened about what will come out about him, and it isn't good...No matter how much the republicans care to stand by him, the truth will be told...(I read that somewhere)...lol
Enjoy your day!

You're so right, but the question is, will America still be here when that history is written? Thanks!

Agreed MM, and thank you, and Trump's doing his best to make us feel inferior for having brains enough not to fall for his b.s!

But, as long as there's people that know he's full of it, Mike, maybe we might have a chance.
He's really full of it, he actually said the democrats, were unAmerican because they didn't clap for his speech...there's another quote I've heard that fits with him.
"There's no praise in self praise"...I know for sure he's never heard that one.

I wish Trump was someone who thought before he tweeted. I was shocked recently to hear him say he didn't know who Britain First were before sharing something of theirs on twitter. He's the president on the united states. He should know what he's sharing, especially to an international audience. Not that believe he doesn't know exactly what that group are, but that he could use that as an excuse! That he could say he shared something with so little thought from a known racist group. 'If you want me to apologise, I will', he reportedly said. What? I don't want his apology as a PR exercise, I want it as something that means he knows what was wrong about what he did. He's the president of a country, not a bloke having a yarn to his mates down the pub.
Then he has the audacity to comment about the recent NHS marches, with no understanding about what is actually going on here, using them to decry universal healthcare. Something he doesn't understand, or care to understand, and something we are fighting not to lose through mis-management.
How did this man ever get into office? Still, at least at worst it'll be eight years. Eight years isn't enough for wholesale destruction. Is it?

Emma, couple of comments in response to your post. Think? Before he tweets? Before he speaks? Trump is incapable of digesting and processing International politics--and worse he doesn't care, using any incident, any video to support his current mood--without any thought at all.
Whether he knew what the BF stood for is somewhat irrelavent as he AGREED with the contents. He has NEVER apologized for making any statement or error.
Some of the smaller details of how DH Trump spends his day may not have reached you in Sark. He spends his mornings--unavailable for business until 11AM as he watches FOX TV, a station totally supportive of the POTUS's every move. He ends his day at 4:30 and retires to his quarters. He's spent almost 40% of his time on golfing properties he owns. The security costs are enormous, but I think America has accepted the BS squabbling over his lifestyle (though they are paying the tab) they fail to see the millions spent on his personal travels is impacting programs for the citizens.
His latest folly is to ask for an enormous military parade with troops and tanks. He claims he was inspired by France. Call me nuts, but I'm pretty sure it falls into the same category as 'my button is bigger than yours', a response to N. Korea.
Eight years? Let's hope than when the next presidential election comes up in 2020 Americans will ensure Trump never sees a second term. We may not have the right to vote, but his presidency threatens all of us, regardless of our citizenship.

Perhaps now you might really understand what we, as Americans, have to deal with...this man actually called the democrats un-American, because they didn't clap at his state of the union speech...a man that actually suggested that action was treasonous...and then to be told by his office that the comment was just a joke...
This is a man that doesn't even know the history of this country, fully, certainly doesn't understand, nor care too, what's in the constitution...doesn't even realize that this is not a dictatorial form of government...He speaks before he thinks, knows only enough to makes his supporters think he's knowledgeable...and they will believe every word he says.
What else can we expect from a man that in the middle of coming to some serious immigration agreements, wants the military to plan a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue...
At a cost of millions of dollars, who is asking that the presidents plane have repaired made to their refrigeration system, as it isn't adequate enough, at a cost of 24 million dollars, while he is considering cutting funding for aid to Puerto Rico...though they are Americans that still need our help.
Its clear to me, that the republican party has lost its mind....they are either afraid of trump, or are simply stupid...I have to say that because of what is being said and done here now.
Are they completely taken over by far-right cable stations, do they actually care about this country, or have they forgotten the rest of us.
Some republicans are leaving office, stating they will not be seeking additional terms, and I heard a speech from "Flake" yesterday that sums up, exactly how many Americans feel right now...but he will not be seeking another term in office, and feels free to be honest.
Shithole countries, Sons of bitches, un-American Democrats, Fake news, wants a government shut down, and after standing on his campaign platform screaming how Mexico was going to pay for the wall, he now wants 20 billions dollars to be included in the budget...don't people see these things...and so much more...
I just don't expect him to act like the leader in a country that was once the leader of the free world...that's finished, its over, and quite frankly I'm not sure we will ever get back the respect we once had...
History has proven, systems change, and so do what people want and expect from a government...Whether we want to believe it or not, America is changing, the color of its landscape is changing, and there are people that simply just don't like such a change.
Yet through all of that this, racist, bigoted, ignorant, selfish, and non-caring man now sits in the oval office...its a shame...and I say those that are sitting on their couches in their living rooms, shaking their heads in agreement for all that he is doing are the same...They just have to be...

Mike, I found a few of your quotes intriguing. That JFK one was a fine one. Of course, a man like him holding the levers of power ... Well he just fell over dead....because.... Perhaps your "god"struck him down ? Idk. Your other quote by some seeming moral superior named Stevens .... About moral judgement ... I wonder about what that guy's morals are based upon? What might he think about abortion, stolen property, free speech, free will, marriage. I could go on, but you get the idea... I'm taking a stab in the dark here, but I'd be willing to bet that THAT guy you quoted despises the Bible. ( Filled with the only Words that have REAL POWER) The Book that that Trump character tries to revere , and base his morals upon. This judgement , of mine , AND EVERYONE else's that you disdain,. not being altered or colored by any other "gods" or agendas. Just some thoughts.
