Barack Obama's trip to Asia?Thread Started November 29 at 10:40AM
Help me out, guys. A few days ago I heard a news item stating Obama was scheduled for a three country trip to Asia, including a meeting with China's president Xu.
After the very short blurb, I didn't hear another thing Am I hallucinating?
I looked for more info as the news threw me. Surely, despite being a former US president, he can't represent America in any official diplomatic function? Especially with Trump at the helm.
I've been trying to find more info, but can't find anything. I swear this was in daylight hours and no alcohol was involved. Anyone know about this?

As an American citizen, former president Barack Obama has the right to travel anywhere in the world that he chooses...his trip will include meetings with leaders in China and India...He will be giving paid speeches, and even a town meeting for young people in some of these countries...he will also be going to France...
It is not know whether the trump administration was made aware of his trip, however, he doesn't need the permission of the administration to travel...the US embassies in each country has been notified of the trip..it is nothing new that former presidents would choose to travel abroad, President Clinton, and President Carter also travelled...
Former US presidents, through the years, have travelled overseas, to attract donations and support for their foundations, libraries, and presidential centers...and most certainly he will not get that kind of support here...
Even one in the democratic party has made comments as to the amount of money he might receive...Before Obama began his career in politics, he was always involved with helping those that needed encouragement and will continue to do so...I hope he does well, in encouraging the young people to educate themselves, become interested in the political arena....perhaps the world might benefit from his experience and energy..
i know there will be those that question his interests, but I see no person better qualified to do what is needed for the minority youth of this country...all young people for that matter...his integrity, honesty, compassion, and decency surely will not be forgotten...I wish him well....no you are not hallucinating...its simple, most people just don't care, are not interested, and are waiting for some kind of response from the world community...Why would they be interested...its a known fact, that the trump administration has tried hard to destroy, and reverse much of Obama's executive orders...I believe, if it was possible, many would prefer he simply faded into the background...however there is still much that he wants to do...and I applaud him for that..
Just Some Thoughts!
