WOMEN

Thread Started November 9 at 6:58AM

The big news is that in the recent elections, WOMEN in record numbers rose up and won the day. Old white men who'd festered in their seats for years and years were challenged by angry women, tired of the Trump agenda and mentality and DEFEATED by them.

It's only the beginning. Women in record numbers are set to run in the next election.

I can only say, and I mean no offence by my old school ways, "Can I get the door for you?" ... the door to the Senate, the Oval Office ... the door to hope.

Hi Mikey,

I say its time that women did take a more active part/share/roll in government...Perhaps their outlook on what we need, and what we don't will Help to get us where we belong..a United States where all voices are involved...it took a long while in American history before woman were even considered worthy of consideration, and so now is the time...But, although I respect Hillary Clinton, I do believe the upcoming movement of women in government need those that are going to realize that all women must be involved...not only the wealthy, America need input from all of us...(even the old gals, like me (LOL)..

Let's hope for a better future for all of us...

It's good to see women participating in politics at local and regional as well as state and federal levels. Trump made a truly colossal mistake of his new presidency when he failed to address the largest and first world wide inauguration protest in history. Five million women, men and children from around the world protested Trump's lack of civility he delivered to fuel seething white resentment.

He's been the POTUS for one year now and has accomplished no significant legislation. Even worse he signed an executive order that made is easier for people living with mental illness to buy guns in order to satisfy NRA lobbyists who donated generously to his campaign.

Political directions arising from the grassroots are always best because they come from people affected by those decisions. Let's trust that this diverse group of fresh faces make powerful people accountable and develop policies of inclusion for all the forgotten and marginalized.

Be careful what you wish for... Margaret Thatcher, Teresa May, Michelle O'Neill, Arlene Foster...

Woman are the ascendency here. All the major parties are run by them. We've now been without a government for ten months because they can't agree on anything...

Good luck folks!

My comments only apply to what I can attest too. and that's what's happening here in the US...I do believe part of the Clinton loss was because she was a woman...and oddly enough I've heard that from other women...Not every man in the established government here in the US has been one that I could say I respected...but there's certainly any number of woman that could become a respected, and accepted president in this country...

MC, your post made me laugh. Thank you, and I'm sure gentlemanly manners will never be challenged or go out of style.

Gloria, I too was thinking about the global women;s march on January 21st. DJ made absolutely no comment, but likely thought--come January 22nd--out of sight--out of mind. . But rather than the protest being over, it was just the beginning. Feminism is not a one-day even, and in fact, with all the women stepping out with their accusations against good old Harvey, it seems a new chapter is being written. Women are angry and no, we won't take it any more.

Did DT actually think women would be okay when he signed away financial support for Planned Parenthood and then went on to try to remove maternity benefits from the proposed NEW health care bill?

Women do not file things away, but have the grace to wait for their moment. Yes, last week's elections, at least in my mind, said a great deal about who they will entrust with their interests.

And BTW, and are ready to testify against Spacey are courageous, the men who are coming out
to testify against Spacey are courageous as well. Women's rights are human rights. Think about all the young athletes who were traumatized by their coaches' sexual interference. Many have been traumaiized (as were the women who experienced this same sin) for life.

I have absolutely no doubt that most women seeking office expect their efforts would be to serve their country. I will declare it a public holiday the day I hear Trump refer to himself as a public servant.

Thank you. It seems we have so little to

Trump Tweets today:

I don?t blame China, I blame the incompetence of past Admins for allowing China to take advantage of the U.S. on trade leading up to a point where the U.S. is losing $100's of billions. How can you blame China for taking advantage of people that had no clue? I would've done same!

Haaaaaaha. How can you blame China for taking advantage of people that had no clue? I would've done same ... Finally we get some truth from Trump.

Amid recent revelations of widespread sexual harassment and assault in Hollywood, Republican Alabama candidate for the senate, Roy Moore finds himself within their ranks today. Allegations of sexual misconduct with four girls between the ages of 14 and 18 when he was a prosecutor years ago have been made.

This is how Judge Roy Moore responded on Twitter to the allegations:

The Obama-Clinton Machine's liberal media lapdogs just launched the most vicious and nasty round of attacks against me I've EVER faced!

We are are in the midst of a spiritual battle with those who want to silence our message.

The forces of evil will lie, cheat, steal--even inflict physical harm--if they believe it will silence and shut up Christian conservatives like you and me.

I believe you and I have a duty to stand up and fight back against the forces of evil waging an all-out war on our conservative values!

Our nation is at a crossroads right now -- both spiritually and politically.

His responses to the allegations are irresponsible at best. All I read is a whole bunch of conflation. What is he talking about with the Obama-Clinton media machine? Why is Moore involving them? Who wants to silence his message and what is his message? Who is inflicting physical harm and what makes him draw the conclusion that it's forces of evil trying to silence Christian conservatives? What are his Christian values?

In my opinion Judge Roy Moore should undergo a lie detector test and if he's innocent his name should be cleared. If he refuses he should withdraw from the race, unless of course Alabama's conservative Christian values of so-called truth and goodness embrace pedophilia.

There seems to be an effort to spin this revelation as Cemocrats maligning Republican candidates, alliding back to the Trump Russian dossier, suggesting the Dems are poisoning reputations in order to INTERFERE with elections.

This isn't a Rep or Dem problem, but a social plague.

What a mess! But, it;s time to fling back the curtains and expose these sexual/power brokers. Moore has spewed a lot of sexual righteousness and now his own deviations are being exposed. Looks good on him.
