A pint or two should do it...

A Bug that Slugs

by JLR

Oh, To the Devil with it all!
Stuck in neutral; mutual Hell
We, me, you, they, making 'em sick
Wear a mask plus six feet, they say!

Stuck in neutral; mutual Hell.
City, park, zoo, a store. Who knows
where one would blow their COVID nose?
and spray the air with bugs that slug

We, me, you, they, making 'em sick
a stranger...jeez it could be me!
Let's roll back time to better days
when kids ate dirt, could handle germs.

Wear a mask plus six feet, they say!
It's so daffy...it makes me laugh.
Kill the bug with a pint or two!
Methinks, Scotch or Whiskey will do...

the Retourne is all about repetition.
It contains: four quatrains and each line has eight syllables--(16 lines, 8/8/8/8)
Meter--tetrameter
~~~~~~~
The trick is that
***the FIRST stanza's SECOND line must also be the SECOND stanza's FIRST line,
***the FIRST stanza's THIRD line is the THIRD stanza's FIRST,
***and the FIRST stanza's FOURTH line is the FOURTH stanza's FIRST.
