Pink High Heels

by JLR

Just running outa things to do
running around the house, caged,
feels like living in a zoo.

Those spring cleaning chores, which I abhor
I just wanted to run and prance
even if it was just outside my door.

The windows were washed, the pantry
cleaned, my closets now neatly organized,
I took the next step, raising the ante.

While cruising the tube I stumbled
across a lively scene,
people dancing on-screen.
Watching them, my heart tumbled.

Cleaning out things I had reclaimed my pink heels
and in the blink of an eye, I put them on my feet
and around the house, I started to reel.

Wearing my tights, I tossed on my polka-dot skirt
not thinking twice, I really got into the heat of the beat
feeling like a young debutante, and really quite pert.

I was just dancing and prancing on solid ground
and suddenly through a crack in the floor,
down I go, feeling quite like a foolish clown.
