My little dog sometimes gets into trouble.

My Doggie, Bucky

by HarryT

My doggie loves to sleep with me at night
Bucky is almost all brown with spots of white
I picked him because he was the smallest son
In my family I’m the youngest, tiniest one

On our walks Bucky wants to lead
Often, he takes off with great speed
When he spots a bird or flying bug
He splashes through grass and mud
His paws and coat become a muddy mess
When we come home his muddle gives mom distress

I carry Bucky to our downstairs bathtub
I know I must give him a good hard scrub
Mom said, not on my bed until he's clean
I wash him until he’s smooth like velveteen

Mom carefully inspects us both, says okay
Bucky sits next to me as I kneel and pray
We jump in bed, snuggle till the next day.
