I Wished It Would Snow and Snow

by D.F. Wood

Oh, how I wished it would snow and snow.
Not just a little but a whole lot.
To work I'd not go, at home I'd stay,
No school tomorrow, the kids would play.

I wish for the world to stop, just for a few days.
Let the people breathe, purge their brains.
Everything just seems -- so out of control,
Relief we need, from our aches and pains.

A freak of nature, an act of God?
It's what it takes to set us down, stop us in our tracks,
to break our routines, bring us out of our daze.
To awaken, to feel alive, to cherish life. Isn't that odd?

The "Blizzard of '78", or as terrible as "Nine-Eleven",
people came alive, came together, helped one another.
I wished there was a better way
to make us live like that every day.

Oh, how I wished it would snow and snow.

I was day-dreaming about a massive snow storm like the blizzard of 1978 that shut our town down for about 4 days. I decided to pull up my laptop and start jotting down my thoughts. As I did this my thoughts started to change. There were several pauses as visions and thoughts of times gone by went through my mind. You are reading the results.
