Sad Dying

Depleting Numbers

by Wils

"The Mass has ended, go in peace."

Father Murphy watched as the people of the morning Christmas service genuflected and left the church in silent reflection. It saddened him that attendance was dropping every year. Normal Sunday mass was bad enough, but it was on the church's days of celebration that the depleting numbers really hit home. Easter and Christmas, seasons when the church used to be standing room only, nowadays only saw spatters of the congregation amongst the pews.

Father Murphy knelt and prayed for the repose of the soul of the Catholic Church. It sure needed a miracle.
