A short rhymed poem

I Hate You More

by Debra White

"I hate you more than I hate school,"
my daughter yells, then slams the door.
Admittedly, I lost my cool,
I raised my voice and started war.

Her gentler side I much prefer -
I hate to see her throw a fit.
Her anger gets the best of her
and me too, I have to admit.

I feel the floor vibrate with rage
as Madam stamps her way upstairs.
I'll wait a while 'fore I engage
and 'fore I do, I'll say my prayers!

Note to self - Don't try to fight fire with fire...it doesn't end well.
