We have waited in darkness for the Light
The Light of their darknesses walked the streets among them healing all
As do we, they remembered and tried to right their lives since the Fall
But for our dear suffering predecessors, their Light did not last
But was plucked from them in their powerlessness leaving a great void so vast
The Light extinguished within their aching hearts searching for the way
We too lower our heads in humble prayer bringing to mind all that happened on that day
In the beginning, all was void, all was dark,
Then the Light of the holy candle in the center began to spark
There was an illumination, a new Light of the Easter Candle
Its magnificence was almost more than we could handle
Touching each of us, lighting our faces
A realization of hearts filled with joy as we stood in our places
Light guiding us wonderously to contemplate what we should remember
When we each doused our candle of the hope-filled flickering ember
One heart after another brightening within the soul's dark night
Waiting, waiting for that true Easter Light
We had walked blindly and had stumbled through the year
The answers to our questions and our salvation we knew grew near
As the Easter Light shone brighter all in prayer were revealed
There was our sister, our brother, we all wanted to be healed
For His all-enveloping Grace for which we so long
Tell of new life, of growth, of hope, of song
Oh Happy Heart now free of your self-made prison
