Getting older

Lost Dreams

by Sandtana Kay

Quietly and deeply I lay to rest
All my dreams that have past
Unlived, undone, yet lingering still
Too old and broken to fulfill.
Some packed neatly and given away,
Others too worn for an play.
Long unfulfilled and wished to be,
Unable to be opened by any key.
Some memories given with love,
Long passed and cherished much.
My head says give, but my heart says keep
But who will care after I sleep.
Why do we keep so long
Our dreams in boxes
Life passes so quickly
And leaves us few choices.
Don't let time flee
Or too soon like me
Your dreams will be in boxes
Unable to be opened by any key.

Getting older I ponder on dreams I am too old to fulfill now.
