A chapter in the book Worlds

Cockroach World 2

by Bill Schott

I've lived a long, long time, my little friend,

but I must tell you -- we are at the end ;

there is no septic swill can keep me here,

chemicals taint the land and atmosphere.

There was a time, of course, when life was good,

a roach could rule the globe as a roach should;

the world much was our oyster, flake, and crumb,

soon, though, from all man's poisons we'll succumb.

So, let's part here as friends, both you and I,

and lead our greatest life, until we die;

we can't undo the damage that's been done,

so let's just live like -- roaches on the run.
