This work has reached the exceptional level
Commentary: A house divided cannot stand.

Abstruse Inquiry

When all of this is over
When all of this is done
Who will have lost?
Who will have won?

Our mindless spinning
Is out of control
We spew "racist"
"cold-blooded," "no soul"

But why stop there?
Let's secure a permanent fix:
Add homophobic,
misogynistic, and xenophobic
to the mix

Perhaps our differences
Were always inherent
And our antagonisms
More than apparent

Whatever the case
This much I know,
And let me make myself clear
As we reap what we sow:
I refuse to embrace such newfound fear
Or accept this brand of reality
As my constant actuality

Away with the cynicism and lies
Away with conspiracy theories and spies
Away with degradation and sexist stands
Away with "what ifs" and arrogant demands

Take these fawning minions
And go far away
But know for a certainty
I am here to stay

When all of this is over
When all of this is done
Who will have lost?
Who will have won?

When all of this is over
And we arrive at its end
I'll remember...vaguely,
I once called you, "friend" ...
