Your Betrayal

by Sharon Meda

A love spoken of so freely
A lie told so easily
And me the dupe living in the dark
Unknowing and unseeing

You, being faithful, not to me
But to another, my sister, my friend
To lose you was a heartache
Losing her broke my very soul

My days are long and lonely now
I have no one in whom I can confide
No shoulder upon which to cry
Alone in a world of twos

Your betrayal I now wear like a cloak
Pulled tight around my shoulders
Keeping me from any chance of pain
Stopping me from loving, trusting again
