Final Chapter

by jaded831

I never know what's in your heart.
Your face may look mad at the world.
As if you'd bite off someone's head.
Then I watch you bend down to pet
a dog or help a child,
and I feel warm inside.
The next day you'd be smiling,
I'll start a conversation, and
hit a nerve. Tempers flair, you
walk away, but go nowhere.
At night we settle our
differences in our usual way.
I have a trying day at work,
you wrap loving arms around me
and I feel safe. I look at our
children and remember the love
we once shared. Although the
romance has a new style, you
my love, make me smile.
You're still my best friend, and
we will be together till the
very end.
